GHRP-2 Acetate

GHRP-2 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-2, pralmorelin) is a synthetic hexapeptide that activates the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), the same ghrelin receptor studied in our Ipamorelin entry. Like Ipamorelin, GHRP-2 binds GHS-R1a on pituitary somatotroph cells, activating Gq/11 protein coupling and the downstream phospholipase C / IP3 / DAG signaling cascade, distinct from the Gs/cAMP pathway used by GHRH-receptor agonists such as Tesamorelin and Sermorelin.

What distinguishes GHRP-2 within this receptor class is its lack of selectivity. While Ipamorelin was specifically developed to stimulate GH release without elevating cortisol, ACTH, or prolactin, GHRP-2 produces some of the highest GH pulse amplitudes of any compound in its class but also activates these secondary hormonal pathways and stimulates appetite, consistent with its closer pharmacological resemblance to endogenous ghrelin. Research also indicates that GHS-R1a agonists such as GHRP-2 act synergistically with GHRH-receptor signaling, with maximal GH stimulation typically requiring simultaneous activity at both receptor systems.
