Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino-acid peptide corresponding to the biologically active N-terminal fragment of human growth hormone-releasing hormone, GHRH(1-29). Despite being a fragment rather than the full 44-amino-acid molecule, it retains essentially complete biological activity at the GHRH receptor, making it the shortest peptide in this class with full agonist function.
Mechanistically, Sermorelin binds GHRH receptors on anterior pituitary somatotroph cells, activating adenylyl cyclase and triggering the Gs/cAMP/PKA signaling cascade, the same receptor pathway studied in our Tesamorelin and CJC-1295 entries. What distinguishes Sermorelin within this pathway class is its short, unmodified half-life (approximately 11-12 minutes), since unlike Tesamorelin or CJC-1295, it carries no structural modification for extended stability. This makes it useful in research models specifically examining acute, discrete GH pulse dynamics rather than sustained receptor engagement.
